NEWS HAPPENS.
There is an old newspaper adage that news is what happens near an editor. The joke is that ditor’s sudden enthusiasms routinely take precedence over the concerns of the reporter on the beat. In this case, the editor was my family, the news a memorial service for a beloved friend. .
The week ended was ending with an installment that didn’t work. Too complicated, too long to read on a hot summer day. I tried dividing the installmen into two, a tactic that had worked before. Not this time.
