Summer 2024 Subscriber Report
Three years ago Economic Principals emigrated to Substack and I am glad indeed that it did. Substack;s platform is significantly better than the homemade system EP used for many years. To those whose renewed their subscriptions this week I am profoundly grateful. There were too many to thank personally .
I miss writing weekly columns, but not enough to go back to the grind, which usually took most of three days a week, two of them on weekends. EP now comes out monthly, on the first Sunday of the month, or whatever day is closest to it. Bookwork is moving ahead more steadily than before.
Even a month seems like a long time to wait. Many readers miss being reminded that it‘s Sunday morning. Last week Substack HQ reminded me and many other writers on their best-seller list (it’s a low bar) that an alternative exists.
Substack Notes is a channel designed to boost traffic (and revenue) within its network. It allows authors to recommend the sites of other Substack writers whom they read. Three or four timely paragraphs, one new recommendation a week, seems about right to me. At least the first of these will be, emailed to free and paid EP subscribers as well as “followers” (whatever that means).
I don’t understand it very well yet, but I am willing to try, starting next week Sunday morning, of course. Let’s see how it works. Thanks again to all supporters, Linda Lebrun in particular. dw
