Hi, all,

Economists may see this as replacing equality with efficiency, but I think non-economists saw this as replacing equality with lower prices. And then we discovered that often a monopoly can supply lower prices, so we lost interest in anti-trust regulation, which - it seems to me and Winston - can be a useful role for government.

Thanks for provoking thoughts on Sunday morning. Go, 49ers! (Sorry, Philadelphians ....)

I appreciate your review of economists with whom I am unfamiliar , as well as your analysis and calling out important new writing. I have read you ever since you gave a speech to our Massachusetts Regional Planning Conference on the Cape in the 1980s while you were with the Globe. Thanks always,

Interesting to see the rise of publications like the Milken Institute Review. I recently read a few pieces from Phenomenal World (https://www.phenomenalworld.org/) and noticed that they were published by the Jain Family. I don’t know enough about the economics of the publications but they seem well researched and edited.
